Transparency, orientation and metadata
Know which properties change when you export an image.
Transparency
PNG and WebP outputs can retain transparent pixels. JPG fills them with white. The checkerboard behind previews indicates transparency and is not written into the output image.
Orientation and color
The browser decodes the source orientation before drawing. Original EXIF, location tags and embedded metadata are not copied. The original color profile is not retained; browser color conversion can alter appearance.
Static images only
Animated PNG and WebP are rejected to avoid silently losing frames. GIF, SVG, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF and RAW inputs are outside the supported formats. Use static JPG, PNG or WebP sources.
